Encore

In June, 2005, Marni Enns (Soprano), Kirsten Schellenberg (Alto), Doug Pankratz (Tenor) and Kris Kornelsen (Bass) were preparing to tour Taiwan and Japan with TheWinnipeg Singers and gave a one-time fundraising concert as the Korpankennsberg Quartet. The four friends had so much fun singing together that they decided to continue. Since then, the quartet, now named Encore, has performed frequently in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. They sing all types of music and have received high acclaim for their relaxed, easy performance style and their impeccable tuning and musicianship.

Each member of the group is active singing both as choristers and soloists with other notable organizations such as The Winnipeg Singers, Canzona, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Encore gives a concert series of their own every season and also enjoys guest appearances with other arts organizations, corporate and private parties and house concerts. Since their first concert, they have appeared as guests for several groups including The Eden Foundation, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, The Winipeg Singers and, in 2007, the Agassiz Festival. Their repertoire includes favourites such as the King's Singers and the Beatles. They also enjoy singing gospel, pop, vocal jazz, and classical music.

Encore recently celebrated the release of their debut CD, First Time Around with launch parties at the Park Theatre and The Prairie Ink Restaurant at McNally Robinson Booksellers. Recent concerts and performances have included singing with Prairie Voices for The Mennonite Heritage Village Concert, Christmas with Encore at the University of Manitoba’s Eva Clare Hall and a performance at the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra’s gala dinner. Recently, the group was featured on CFAM’s Made in Manitoba series. For more information, please visit their website at www.encorequartet.ca.
