Laurence Kayaleh is an exceptional violinist of deep musical insight, whose rich, singing tone and feeling for style set her apart from the ranks of today’s virtuoso artists.
Ms. Kayaleh’s early career took her to the most prestigious music centers in the world: Paris, Prague, Brussels, Zürich, Sofia, Bern, Moscow, Lucerne, Lincoln, Osaka, Tokyo, Montreal, Cleveland, Caracas, Milano, Washington, Dublin, Messina, Bologna, Saint-Louis, Modena and Geneva, where she was soloist with such well-known symphony orchestras as that of the Tonhalle, the Suisse Romande, Brussels, Basel, Cleveland, Montreal, Mexico, Bergamo, Saint-Louis, Lamoureux, Simon Bolivar, the Russian National and the National Symphony (Washington).
She performed under prestigious conductors: Slatkin, Dutoit, Kogan, Pletnev, Novak, Wakazugi, Carewe, Turnowsky and Venzago to name but a few, and played at the Bolchoï and the Tchaïkovsky halls (Moscow), Pleyel hall (Paris), Lied Center (Lincoln), Victoria Hall (Geneva), Arts Center (Osaka), Teatro Donizetti (Bergamo), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), Verdi Hall (Milano), Teatro Teresa Carreño (Caracas), Pollack Hall (Montreal), Powell Hall (Saint-Louis) and Kennedy Center (Washington).
First Prize winner at the Swiss Competition for Young Soloists, and Grand Prize winner at the Stresa International Competition, her playing was described as regal by the Parisian newspaper The Figaro which praised her wonderful sound and her innate sense of phrasing. She was the guest of important Music Festivals: Lucerne (Switzerland), Orne (France), Ottawa (Canada), Divonne (France), Parry Sound (Canada), Blossom (Cleveland, USA), Cervantino (Mexico), Abbey Bach (USA) and is a guest of CBC, Radio Canada and the European Radio-Television.
She shared concerts with violinists Igor Oïstrakh, Viktor Pikaïsen and Ida Haendel.
Professor at the Montreal University, Laurence Kayaleh has recorded for the NAXOS company two CDs dedicated to the violin and piano works of Russian composer N. Medtner and a CD presenting the works of Swiss composer A. Honegger.
Future engagements include concerts at the Place des Arts, Montreal (Pro Musica Series), in the Agassiz Chamber Music Festival, Winnipeg, and with the McGill Chamber Orchestra.
She was granted the Nyon City Artistic Award, Switzerland, and was selected as an honoured member of the “Who’s Who Historical Society”, which testifies to her professional, academic and civic achievements.
She performs on a beautiful Guarnerius built in 1742, which belonged to the famous violinist and pedagogue, Carl Flesch.
