About this Artist​
Natalie Wong is a passionate cellist originally from Edmonton, Alberta. Currently, she is in her third year pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music at the University of Ottawa under Paul Marleyn.
During her university studies thus far, she has found success placing 2nd in the BIPOC Composer competition, and winning a top prize in the UOttawa Concerto Competition for an opportunity to perform as a soloist in the upcoming year.
Natalie has played as the principal cellist with the Ottawa Pops Orchestra, and won a mentorship position with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. She has won top prizes in local music festivals, placed 2nd in the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, and performed at the Canada West Music Festival. In recent summers, Natalie attended Bowdoin International Music Festival, Center Stage Strings in Michigan, and the UOttawa Summer String Academy.
Outside of music, Natalie has a passion for outdoor sports such as long distance running, mountain biking, skiing and climbing.
She has had opportunities to have learned from esteemed cellists such as Laurence Lesser, Richard Aaron, Denise Djokic, Edward Arron, David Ying, Amir Eldan, Leo Singer, Horacio Contreras, Denis Brott, Leana Rutt, Caroline Stinson, David Evenchick, Shimon Walt, and Wendy Warner.
Natalie is incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Edmonton Community Foundation, and would like to thank them for their continued support in her growth as a musician.
