About the Competition

The Glimpses of the Future Competition is an initiative from the Agassiz Chamber Music Festival to provide opportunities for young musicians who desire to develop their musical experience in a professional environment. Four (4) musicians will be chosen to perform at the 2026 Agassiz Festival.
​
For the 2026 Agassiz Festival, the competition is open to solo performances and solo performances with piano accompaniment. For example: unaccompanied suite, sonata with piano, Art Song for voice and piano. Each musician will have a maximum of ten (10) minutes to perform a repertoire of their choice.
​
There will be two performances: TBD immediately before the 7:30 pm evening Festival concert. Two (2) young musicians will be selected to perform on TBD and two (2) on TBD.
​
Each applicant will receive one (1) free ticket to attend a concert of their choice during the 2026 Agassiz Festival. Competition winners will receive three (3) additional tickets for the day of their performance. Details regarding tickets will be sent by email before the start of the Festival.

2026 Competition Details

RULES FOR COMPETITION

Applicants must be under the age of 30. Applicants must submit a video recording performing their repertoire together with their application form by April 24th, 2026.

Repertoire cannot exceed ten (10) minutes in length.

The submitted video cannot contain edits or be digitally enhanced.

Performance of more than one piece or movement of a piece is permitted, if the total duration of the performance does not exceed ten (10) minutes.

Winners must perform the same repertoire that was used for their application.

Only solo repertoire or solo repertoire accompanied by piano is permitted.

Previous winners are not eligible to apply for future editions of the competition.

The Agassiz Festival does not cover costs related to piano accompaniment.
