Festival Finale - Secret Signs in the Morning Sun

We wrap the festival with a Finale that celebrates the 290th anniversary of composer Joseph Haydn in a performance of one of the “Rising Sun” string quartets by Haydn, a French work evoking a spring morning, and offers a lilting intermezzo by American jazz rag-time composer Bill Bolcom, before closing with Brahms beloved G major String Sextet, a work in which composer Brahms encodes a secret musical representation of the name Agatha - a woman with whom he was in love!
